Due to supply chain disruptions and sanctions, Caterpillar has suspended operations in its Russian manufacturing facilities.
In a statement, the company says operations in Russia have become increasingly challenging, including supply chain disruptions and sanctions, prompting the suspension of manufacturing operations in the country.
In 1973, Caterpillar opened its first office in Russia to support the growing number of Cat machines in the region. Today, the company has manufacturing, distribution, financial services and sales offices to support its local customers, through primary locations in Moscow and Tosno.
Caterpillar has been operating a fully owned manufacturing facility in Tosno, near Saint Petersburg since March 2000. The Tosno plant manufactures off-highway mining trucks, selected models of excavators and components for machines and equipment, which are exported to factories in Europe.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events continuing to occur in Ukraine and hope for a peaceful resolution to the crisis. Through the Caterpillar Foundation, we are donating more than US$1-million to support both urgent and long-term needs of the Ukraine humanitarian crisis,” the company says.
“We are complying with all applicable laws and evolving sanctions, while remaining focused on our employees, dealers and customers. We recognise this is a time of incredible uncertainty for our valued employees, and we will continue to look for ways to support them.”
