At Kalkwerke Oetelshofen GmbH & Co. KG quarry in Wuppertal, Hahnenfurth 5, Germany, limestone has been extracted for many years as fuel for the blast furnace industry. And since August 2022, with the support of the new Kleemann impact crusher MOBIREX MR 130i PRO, the latest family member of the PRO line. Many years of trust-based cooperation Kleemann played an important role in the decision to invest.

The previous MOBIREX MR 122 Z impact crusher served well for many years at the Oetelshofen quarry. The operating company, AMIRO GmbH – represented by its managing director Dirk Frorath – would like to use a combination plant in future in which the screening unit is connected directly to the crushing plant: a machine with post screening unit and oversize grain returning.

The new Kleemann MOBIREX MR 130i PRO impact crusher has been operating at the quarry since August 2022, provides the perfect solution to this challenge and is now demonstrating its numerous advantages at Oetelshofen: high output, effective screening and excellent product quality. And all of this with a single plant without additional screening plant. Reduced fuel consumption is a further positive feature. Instead of supplying a crushing and a screening plant, now only one machine, which also scores with low consumption values, has to be refuelled.

The plant is used today to crush limestone for the furnace industry: Feed size 0/600, final product 0/45. The double-deck post screening unit discharges a final grain size, whereby both screen decks are fully utilised.

A size 50 square mesh is installed in the lower deck for this purpose; a larger mesh is installed in the upper deck as a relief deck. The oversized grain is directed in an uncomplicated process via a reversible transfer conveyor onto the oversize grain conveyor and is then returned to the crushing process.

To find a solution that meets all the requirements was initially a challenge. “The customer had considered different suppliers and options,” explains Christoph Obalski, sales Wirtgen Germany. “Luckily, with the new MR 130i PRO from Kleemann, we have a completely new machine that is exactly suited to the project. When I told Mr. Frorath about the new product he practically made his decision on the spot.”

Mr. Frorath has several machines in operation in quarries and recycling companies and is thrilled by Kleemann’s handling, output and efficient mode of operation. “The machine output is excellent and that, of course, is a decisive factor. What has always impressed me at Kleemann is the service and spare parts supply. It is a healthy, strongly positioned company with reliable contact partners whose customer support is fast and uncomplicated,” says Dirk Frorath.

In this case, it was not possible to view the machine in operation in advance, for example, in another company, prior to purchasing. The impact crusher is, after all, a new development. Thanks to the close cooperation and good experience with the Kleemann product, a very solid foundation of trust existed. Frorath was able to view the machine in the Kleemann plant in Göppingen, a visit that reinforced his decision.

“The large running gear with heavy-duty framing, easy accessibility via steps and platforms to all components and the solid double-deck post screening unit – this made the first impression perfect,” says Frorath.

But the inner workings also impressed: The extremely powerful electric motor for driving the crusher with its heavy rotor, the new drive concept and the option of selecting between star-delta drive and frequency converter are beneficial features. Frorath decided on the star-delta drive. In the limestone quarry, he operates at one speed only but needs the power.

The MOBIREX MR 130i PRO is also equipped with the SPECTIVE operating concept. The operators in the quarry are already familiar with this from the other MR 130 EVO2 plants. “Every now and again we receive very positive feedback from the users,” says Obalski. “The machine operators cope with the system without any problems. Once you get to know SPECTIVE, you can operate all Kleemann crushing plants intuitively.”

The components of the latest SPECTIVE generation, such as the new radio remote controls and the digital solution SPECTIVE CONNECT simplify the everyday work routine even more.
