Krank welcomes John O’Sullivan as its new Head of Sales for APAC and South Africa.

Industry veteran John O’Sullivan has joined Krank as head of Sales for APAC and South Africa, bringing four decades of global experience across technology-led marketplaces, inspections, and asset-intensive industries including mining, construction and automotive.

O’Sullivan previously served as MD for APAC and Middle East at Iron Planet and later as Division Director, Global Asset Management at Macquarie Group. He has experience in leading three international auction and valuation companies across Australia, Europe and Dubai and serves on numerous boards, making him a strategic addition to the Krank team.

“APAC and South Africa demand experience and credibility. John brings both in abundance, along with a deep understanding of how asset condition, timing and market access drive value,” says Mark Turner, CEO of Krank.

“John understands how inspection quality, timing and market access directly affect outcomes, particularly in regions where equipment is worked hard and decisions carry real financial consequence. He also brings immediate credibility. John can engage confidently with boards, operators, and financiers because he has been accountable at that level himself.”

Based in Queensland, Australia, O’Sullivan has a strong track record in positioning businesses for growth and strategic value. In his previous roles, he has led initiatives that strengthened market positioning and delivered measurable results, underscoring his belief that “driving growth comes down to understanding the market, spotting opportunities early, and making decisions that create lasting impact.”

He sees Krank’s AI-driven inspection platform Inspeq as a key differentiator. “AI is everywhere, but very few companies are combining it with inspections for mining, construction and other asset-intensive industries. That’s where Krank’s Inspeq stands out,” he shares. “Being able to offer actionable insights alongside inspections is what sets us apart.”

O’Sullivan will lead Krank’s expansion across Australia, Southeast Asia and South Africa, focusing on solutions that integrate inspections, asset intelligence, and controlled sales. “Our goal is to provide a complete solution across sectors, from mining and construction, and to do it in a way that creates real, measurable value,” he said.

This appointment aligns with Krank’s growth ambitions, with Turner adding: “John brings the experience, judgement and industry respect required to form the right partnerships, move at the right pace, and create something durable across APAC and South Africa. Our goal is to establish Krank as a trusted operating layer for inspections, asset intelligence, and controlled sales across mining, energy, and construction, not simply another marketplace or software vendor. These regions share common realities: large fleets, demanding environments, strong secondary markets, and increasing pressure on asset performance and capital efficiency. Krank is built for those conditions, but success depends on deploying the platform with discipline and relevance.”

Joining Krank in early February 2026, O’Sullivan brings a wealth of experience to help the company further expand its networks and strengthen its operational leadership in some of the world’s most demanding asset-intensive markets.

O’Sullivan will be joining David McCarthy, Krank’s Global Head of Sales, at Africa’s leading mining event, Indaba 2026, from 9-12 February.
